Abim – March 2, 2022: A councilor of Morulem town council in Abim district has committed suicide.

Akello is also a councilor. After the quarrel, he later burnt two grass-thatched houses belonging to his sister on the same night.

The police were involved and started hunting for him.

TND News understands that after realising that police were hunting for him, he entered his house and started burning it from inside.

He hurriedly came out and took poison, and became unconscious.

Mayor of Morulem town council, Onyanga said the locals made “many attempts” to rush him for treatment.

“He was determined to die,” the mayor added, further saying, “It was late when the community succeeded in rushing him to Abim General Hospital at around 9 pm where he died on arrival.”

Okech Jimmy Rockford, a resident of the same area said the deceased burnt the main house and sister’s kitchen before the police intervened.
