Kyadondo, Kampala—29, July 2020: Panic has engulfed National Resistance Movement party secretariat in Kampala after two of its key staff tested positive for novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
The sad news was confirmed by NRM Secretary General, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumunba on Wednesday afternoon.
Using both her official Facebook and Twitter accounts, the NRM party chief wrote:
“This morning, two of our key staff at the National Resistance Movement – NRM Party Secretariat tested positive for COVID-19 and have been admitted to the Hospital for proper care.”
“We are working with the technical people and further guidance will be given in due course.”
“I urge everyone to stay alert, healthy and safe.”
Yesterday, while addressing his party supporters after his nomination as the NRM national chairman and party presidential flag bearer ahead of the 2021 polls, President Museveni said he tested negative for Covid-19.
Two people have so far died of the virus in Uganda in less than two weeks.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health confirmed five new cases for Tuesday, bringing the cumulative confirmed cases in Uganda to 1,140.
