Lira main street accident: One confirmed dead, two in critical condition

Lira—19, June 2020: One person has succumbed to injuries following the morning nasty accident at Lira main street (Obote Avenue) near Lira main market.

According to Lira District Police Commander (DPC) Benard Mugerwa, the hydraulic brake system of the fuso truck, registration number UAQ 527W failed.

This, he says, caused the truck to ram into two vehicles and five motorcycle that were parked, including people causing scores of injuries.

The DPC has identified the deceased only as Mukili, adding that two remain in critical condition and fighting for their lives at Lira Regional Referral Hospital.

The two who are in critical condition are Bonny Okello and another an unidentified victim.

“I need to confirm from the traffic officer but yeah, it is true I have heard that the man who was critically injured passed on,” DPC Mugerwa told this publication.

Meanwhile, the driver of the killer vehicle is still at large and efforts to have him apprehended is on course.
