National—30, June 2020: Out of 2,170 samples tested on Monday 29 June 2020 for novel coronavirus in Uganda, nineteen tested positive—the Ministry of Health confirmed on Tuesday morning.
“Eleven of the confirmed cases are returnees from Afghanistan who were under quarantine at the time of test,” Dr Henry G. Mwebesa, Director General of Health Services, confirmed in his press release on Tuesday.
All confirmed cases are Ugandans and are among 871 samples of alerts and contacts. The total confirmed Covid-19 cases are now 889, he added.
Dr Mwebesa also says a total of twenty-five foreign truck drivers; fifteen Kenyans, seven Tanzanians, two Egyptians and one Burundian tested positive for Covid-19 and were handed over to their respective countries.
Confirmed cases
- Eleven of the confirmed cases are passengers who have just returned from Afghanistan. All were under quarantine at the time of test.
- Seven of the confirmed cases are from Amuru district and one from Kyotera district. All were contacts to previously confirmed cases.
According to Mwebesa, Uganda has registered a total of 819 Covid-19 recoveries and to date no Covid-19 related death has been recorded.
