Uganda ends month of June with 4 news cases and 893 total cases on Tuesday

National—1, July 2020: Results of novel coronavirus tests done on 30 June 2020 confirmed four new cases from 2,059 total samples.

According to Dr Henry G. Mwebesa, the Director of General Health Services, the cumulative confirmed cases of Uganda is now 893.

In his press release dated 1, July 2020, Dr Mwebesa says sixteen foreign truck drivers, among them eleven Kenyans, four Tanzanians and one Congolese tested positive for the virus in Uganda but were denied entry into the country.

“Out of the four Ugandan cases; one is a truck driver who arrived from Kenya via Malaba Point of Entry and three contacts and alerts; two from Kyotera and one from Amuru districts,” he added.

He also announced that there are 184 active cases on admission; 162 are Ugandans, three refugees, and nineteen foreigners.

Dr Mwebesa further tells Ugandans that it’s important to “note that foreigners and refugees are admitted in our health facilities but are not captured in the cumulative confirmed cases.”

To date, he added: “Uganda has registered a tota of 87 Covid-19 recoveries and no Covid-19 related death recorded.

“A total of 2,059 were carried out today bringing the cumulative total of samples tested to 194, 872,” Director Health Services reveals.
