The Ministry of Health on Wednesday evening announced thirteen new cases of novel coronavirus disease.
These were out of 1,741 samples of truck drivers tested.
“The new cases are seven (7) Ugandans, five (5) Kenyans and one (1) Eritrean who arrived from Tanzania, South Sudan and Kenya via Mutukula, Elegu and Malaba,” the Ministry says, via Twitter.
According to the Ministry, all 363 community samples tested negative for COVID-19. It adds that 2,104 samples were tested at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe.
Today at 3pm, Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng will address the country on the health sector’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She will be accompanied by the Ministerial Scientific Advisory Committee.
New campaign
Ministry of Health has launched a new campaign dubbed #Tonsemberera, loosely translated as “Keep Your Distance”. This campaign requires Ugandans to keep social distance of 4 meter whenever they are in public places.
This campaign is in addition to other directives and guidelines issued prior like: wearing facemasks, washing hands with clean water and soap regularly, sanitizing, among others.
