Lira – People Power Chief Mobilizer and 2021 presidential hopeful, Honourable Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has been arrested in Lira town and his consultation blocked.
Bobi wine was arrested about 30 minutes from Grand Pacific Hotel, a meeting venue he had booked by depositing Uganda shillings 350,000.
The venue had since Tuesday been under security surveillance and management were given tough conditions before allowing People Power team.

The Wednesday crackdown also saw Bobi Wine’s meeting blocked under a command by Lira DPC, George Obia.
Bobi Wine and his team, upon arrest were led by a police van towards Erute Police Headquarters.
“We are yet to establish if he is in police custody or has been released but what we also know is that some three people, probably people power supporters have also been arrested and are in Police custody at Lira CPS,” TND News senior reporter and editor, Frank Oyugi reports.
Later, Bobi Wine went on Twitter and tweeted: “Eventually, after plucking us out of our vehicle and driving us on breakneck speed, they abandoned us around Karuma Bridge! The dictator is in panic and we are not giving up. Tomorrow morning, we head to the Electoral Commission to demand for answers. This is our country!”
On Tuesday, Bobi Wine was tasked to pick “authorization to hold a meeting letter” from the chairperson, Te-Obia LC1 chairperson who’s an NRM supporter.
Alongside LC1 letter, Mr. Wine was also tasked to pick a security letter and take it to hotel management – which letter “would allow him hold a meeting of not more than 200 people”.
