Tentative program ahead of Dr Ben Ogwang Ocoo’s burial out

Lango’s departed son – an elder and a great entrepreneur, Dr Ben Ogwang Ocoo will be laid to rest on Saturday. TND News Uganda has learnt.

A program released by family members on Tuesday indicates that the burial will be held on Saturday, 5 October, 2018.

Speaking to TND News Uganda Tuesday afternoon, Ocen Emmanuel Brown, deceased nephew told this website that the body will be airlifted to Lira town on Thursday.

From Lira airfield, the body will be taken to Lira district Council Hall for special tribute and public viewing.

After special council sitting and  public viewing, the casket leaves for Kirombe West [home] in Adyel division where he will rest.

On Friday, Dr Ben will be taken to Lira Cathedral for another special prayers before his body leaves for his ancestral home in Amukugungu parish, Ocamkwoki village, Otwal sub-county in Oyam County North, Oyam district.

On Saturday, burial program starts in the morning, family member says.

By press time, his body was still at Mulago national hospital from where he died on Monday night at around 9:15pm, Brown reveals.

Lira district Council Speaker, Hon. Rashid Opio says all arrangement to see Dr Ben off will be done, describing the deceased as a free man who interacted with everybody freely.

“The death of Dr Ben has disturbed us. Ben was freely approachable and even at my age, he would give me audience,” Lira speaker recalls.

He says between 2001 and 2006, he worked with Ben as a councilor to Lira Municipal council. Then, he added the deceased was also representing Junior Quarters in Adyel division to Lira Municipal Council.

“He was secretary health and helped council to generate [come out with a policy] on garbage management and was rated the best in the country,” Speaker Opio added.
