MPs Kyagulanyi, Zaake still in pain – deputy speaker

Two of the detained Ugandan Legislators in Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and Francis Zaake are in pain, Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanya, the deputy speaker of parliament has said.

On Wednesday, Mr. Oulanya visted the two MPs at Makindye military barracks where Bobi Wine is currently detained on alleged criminal charges.

He also paid a visit to Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake who is currently getting medical treatment following brutal arrest and torture by security forces one week ago.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday in Kampala, deputy speaker Oulanya said of the two Lawmakers.

“What I have seen is that all of them are in pain. I talked with Hon. Kyagulanyi but he’s in a lot of pain. He’s however in a uniquely humorous mood and we were laughing with him. Hon. Zaake and Hon. Kyagulanyi have no internal injuries; all injuries are external arising from several beatings when they were arrested.”

The deputy speaker, Oulanya added: “This situation should not have happened. It’s sad that Abiriga was brutally murdered and the campaigns to replace him have caused this pain.”

After too much demand from Ugandans and his fans globally for his immediate release and his pictures provided by government to prove that Bobi Wine is in good health, on Wednesday, a video of him laughing in pain with Jacob Oulanya went viral.

It justifies the deputy speaker’s observation and those who visited him prior that he [Bobi Wine] is humorous but in pain.

At Rubaga Cathedral, thousands of Ugandans including musicians are having prayers for Bobi Wine, Francis Zaake and other MPs under detention.
