LC1 Election: Voters turned rowdy in Lira

Lira- POLICE from Lira Central Police Station on Tuesday morning rushed to Te-obia village, Central division in Lira Municipality to restore order after some voters had turned rowdy.

The cops had to fire bullets up in the air to bring order, our correspondent in Lira, Bali Myra Harriet says.

She says the voters were very aggressive, blaming election officials for delaying to verify names.

“The supporters of either candidates grabbed the presiding officers’ table and voters register book bearing the list of voters’ names while names were being read for verification,” Bali says.

Meanwhile, two candidates in Omara Fred [UPC] party and incumbent Babu Salim are contenders for the LC1 seat.
