The UPC party flagbearer for the Oyam North MP seat, Dr Eunice Otuko Apio, is scheduled to be nominated for a Parliamentary election in 2026.
Dr Eunice, who is also the incumbent MP since her election in a by-election following the murder of Okello Engola Macodwogo in May 2023, will be nominated at 11 am on Thursday, October 23.
Her nomination venue is the Oyam District Electoral Commission Headquarters.
Shortly afterwards, her party leader, Jimmy James Michael Akena Obote, will address supporters in Acaba sub-county.
“We are honored to welcome the UPC Party President, JJM Akena Obote, who will unveil my candidature to the people of Oyam North at a grand gathering to be held at Acaba Sub-county Headquarters Playground,” Dr Apio said on Tuesday.
Supporters are encouraged to arrive at the venue by 10:00 a.m.
Speaking of the events on Thursday, the Oyam North MP described it as “a momentous occasion for our constituency.”
“Come and show your support, hear from your leaders, and be part of shaping the future of Oyam North,” she told her constituents.
