President Yoweri Museveni’s son-in-law, Odrek Rwabwogo, has reportedly updated his X profile, removing the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID) from the list of entities he oversees. He has also deleted an image associated with the organisation from his profile banner, sparking speculation about the reasons behind the changes.
Rwabwogo has been associated with efforts to promote Uganda’s exports, industrial development and private-sector growth. His reported decision to remove PACEID references has raised questions about whether his public responsibilities or professional priorities are changing.
According to Ritah Kaggwa Blog, the changes followed alleged closed-door family discussions involving Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. The publication claims Muhoozi requested the changes as part of discussions about Rwabwogo’s position and future.
The blog further alleges that the move was intended to help Rwabwogo avoid possible legal trouble, including imprisonment at Luzira Prison. However, the report does not identify a specific criminal charge or court case supporting this claim.
Another allegation is that Rwabwogo has been told to abandon any ambitions of contesting for the presidency or participating in activities related to a presidential bid. If confirmed, such a directive could raise questions about his future political plans and his place within Uganda’s ruling establishment.
The reported developments have renewed discussion about the influence of family relationships in Ugandan politics. Rwabwogo is married to Museveni’s daughter, Patience Rwabwogo, while Muhoozi is the President’s son. Their connections have attracted public attention amid wider debates about political influence and the country’s future leadership.

However, removing PACEID from an X profile does not automatically mean Rwabwogo has left the organisation or that his official responsibilities have changed. No explanation from Rwabwogo or confirmation of the alleged family discussions was included in the report. The claims have added to speculation about Rwabwogo’s future in public service and politics. For now, attention remains on whether the profile changes signal an official shift in his responsibilities and whether any decision has been made regarding his political ambitions.
