Principal Engineer for the Northern region in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Adwek Makmot Jimmy, has assured Amolatar district local government leadership that the construction of small bridges and the swampy, damaged roads caused by floods will commence in December.
Engineer Adwek made a visit to Amolatar on Monday to assess all the affected swampy roads, including Epyel, Awangipol Swamp, Namabere Swamp, and Anoga Swamp, among others.
He further stated that their assessment is intended to ensure that the road is assigned to contractors for repair work.
Amolatar LC5 chairperson, Moris Ogwal Omara, acknowledged the presence of the Ministry of Works and Transport team in the district, stating that the visit has given him confidence that most swampy roads will be repaired.
Regarding the diversion of certain affected roads, Ogwal stated that the district council must agree and approve the diversion so that the Ministry can proceed with work on roads that cannot be fixed but rather diverted.
The LC3 chairperson of Nalubwoyo sub-county thanked the district and Ministry for selecting Awangipol and Epyel, which have been obstructing connectivity and development in the area.
Additionally, the LC3 chairperson of Amolatar town council, Gregory Etum, stated that the Epyel Swamp floods have left many children who previously travelled from Ocamolum to Alemere Primary unable to attend school, along with numerous development projects that could connect Amolatar town council with business opportunities.

Aciro Oliva from Ocamolum A stated that mothers and disabled individuals have genuinely suffered while crossing the water to access services such as market days from Alemere.
She further noted that most pupils who previously studied at Alemere have abandoned their classes.
