The Director of Akalo Comprehensive Schools in Kole district, Johnson Aligi has again delivered shs3 million in cash to support the first edition of the Won Nyaci Run 2026.
This follows his previous contribution of shs10 million in support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 2026 general election campaign.
The latest donation will go towards the upcoming ‘Won Nyaci Run 2026’ scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
The event aims to raise resources to support over 400,000 persons with disabilities in the Lango sub-region.
Speaker of the Lango Cultural Institution Willy Omodo Omodo who also serves as the clan leader of Pedi Wi Bye Acel said the run seeks to ensure that persons with disabilities in Lango have access to wheelchairs, enabling them to move freely from one place to another.
Aligi, who heads over four different institutions in Kole district, said he has drawn three basic principles from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
He noted that the President loves those who love the NRM party, which is why in the recent election they worked hard to ensure all NRM flag bearers went through.
He added that he also follows the church, and currently in Kole South they are working hard to ensure church leaders are sleeping in good conditions.
Director Aligi stated that he supports those who love the community, which is why more than 37 boreholes have been repaired in Kole South for the community to access free clean water points.
He appreciated the office of the LCI leader headed by Dr. Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, for organising the Run to help generate resources to support persons with disabilities.
“This is a good initiative that the young generation should copy by giving out what they have to support the poor. Not that I am rich, but the Bible says give to those who don’t have and God will reward you and give you more,” he said.
He added that they are currently also supporting the education of over 300 learners under bursary, including more than 15 who are on full bursary.
Meanwhile, according to the Patron of the Run, Easy Bash Machar, who is also the current Speaker of Oyam district council, different institutions such as Akalo Comprehensive Schools, Pearl Bank, Bank of Uganda, Equity Bank, and others for coming out to ensure that about 400,000 persons with disabilities—according to a UBOS report—receive wheelchairs for easy movement.
Omodo, who led the delegation to Akalo, appreciated Director Aligi, who hails from the Otiko Kin clan, for always being so supportive by giving out something that God has blessed him with.
“As the Lango Cultural Institution, we are so delighted that he has fulfilled his pledge made about three weeks ago when he promised to give shs3 million in support of the Won Nyaci Run. This is a kind of togetherness as people of Lango,” he said.
Omodo called for unity among the people of the Lango sub-region, urging them to avoid division and segregation so that they can speak with one voice. The theme for this year’s run is “United Culture for Social Economic Transformation of Lango.”
