Don’t settle for a generic ‘Eid Mubarak’ – Islam Khan says

Speaking on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in Lira City, Islam Khan, senior representative of the Pakistan Association in Lira, said: “This Eid, don’t settle for a generic ‘Eid Mubarak!’ Let your words carry the warmth, gratitude, and sincerity this blessed occasion truly deserves.”

Before diving into their messages, Eid al-Adha, often called the Feast of Sacrifice or Bakra Eid, is one of the two most important Islamic holidays in the world.

It falls on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah — the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. In 2026, it was observed on May 27.

Khan added that the festival commemorates the extraordinary moment when Prophet Ibrahim (AS) demonstrated complete submission to Allah (SWT) by preparing to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS).

In His infinite mercy, he said Allah replaced the sacrifice with a ram, teaching all of humanity a timeless lesson about faith, obedience, and trust.

“Eid al-Adha is one of the two blessed Eids that Muslims celebrate. It follows the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage period and is also known as the “Feast of Sacrifice”,” he emphasised.

Extending heartfelt Eid greetings is an important tradition of Eid. These greetings are an expression of well-wishes for health, happiness, and spiritual blessings for all.

The most universally recognised greeting on Eid al-Adha is “Eid Mubarak,” which translates to “Blessed Eid.” He explained that saying “Eid Mubarak” is a way to convey good wishes, happiness, and blessings to family, friends, and the community.

In addition to “Eid Mubarak,” Muslims may also use other greetings such as “Kul ‘am wa antum bikhair” (Wishing you goodness every year) or “Eid Sa’id” (Happy Eid), each carrying a similar message of goodwill and celebration
