Adjumani town councillors pledge transparency and accountability

The newly sworn leaders of Adjumani town council have pledged to promote transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery.

They officially assumed office during a swearing-in ceremony held at the town council premises, an event witnessed by council members, district officials, and residents.

Speaking shortly after taking oath, secretary for finance, planning and administration, Bazio Grace Fiona, assured residents that accountability and transparency would guide her leadership.

“I would like to appreciate everyone for being here to witness this day. I have one word to put forward as in acceptance of my delegation. I therefore, before you here accept that I will visibly promote accountability and the transparency to the people of Adjumani and council,” Bazio said.

Secretary for social services, Andaku Bosco, thanked God and the council leadership for the confidence entrusted in him and pledged to serve diligently.

“First of all, I thank our mighty God. I want to appreciate our chairman for entrusting me and the council. As usual, you know, I am man of all season, I will do this work. Thank you so much,” Andaku said.

Administering guidance to the newly sworn-in leaders, Adjumani district council clerk, Mindra Francis Clark, reminded them of the responsibility attached to the oath they had taken and urged them to remain committed to serving the people.

“I want to remind you on the oath you took. You vowed to uphold, to preserve and to protect the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. That is the vow you took. I want to appeal to you to remain committed to that oath you took,” Mindra said.

He further urged the leaders to remain loyal to the government and responsive to the needs of the people who elected them.

“Remain committed to government and the people who sent you here to represent them. Remain loyal the way you have promised. The people who sent you here demand social services. Remain responsive,” he added.

Meanwhile, the LCIII chairperson of Adjumani town council, Mangapi Lawrence, who was re-elected to lead the council, thanked residents for renewing their trust in him and pledged to continue working towards the transformation of the town council.

“I want to congratulate you and also thank you for the trust you have placed in me by re-electing me to the chairmanship of Adjumani town council. I appreciate your support immensely and regard it as an encouragement to continue the action I have begun,” Mangapi said.

He called upon leaders and residents to work together in building a stronger and more prosperous town council.

“We share the same struggle but together we hold the power to change our future. Let’s talk about how we can build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous town council,” he said.

Mangapi emphasised that the council’s development agenda would be aligned with the National Development Plan, focusing on economic transformation and improved service delivery for residents.
