The Amolatar Women Mill Group convened on Tuesday with leaders from the Sower of Love (SOL) – a community-focused organisation.
The meeting was aimed at fostering partnerships that will enhance the capacities and business opportunities of women within the Women Mill.
Daga Denish, the Proposal Development and Resource Mobilizer for SOL, articulated the organisation’s mission: to empower women through financial independence and support.
He emphasised the commitment to collaborate closely with district stakeholders to realise the aspirations of the women in Amolatar.
“Empowering women isn’t just our goal; it’s our duty,” stated Denish. “Together, we will ensure that these women receive the resources and support necessary to thrive.”
Deputy Resident District Commissioner Obonyo Magwar highlighted the importance of consistent political follow-up and community involvement, referencing an earlier promise from the President to provide a truck and ten million shillings (shs10m) to support the project.
“While the promise remains, the lack of political engagement has delayed its delivery. We have now drafted a Memorandum of Understanding to expedite this process,” he remarked.
Chief Administrative Officer Rhoda Oroma welcomed the partnership and urged Sower of Love to conduct comparative analyses, enabling the women to understand their market better.
“A cost-benefit analysis will be invaluable,” she stressed.
CAO Oroma also proposed benchmarking with successful enterprises to help the women acquire skills that can be directly applied to their ventures.
Apio Juliet, representing the Community Development Officer for Amolatar Town Council, encouraged the women to actively implement and share the skills gained from SOL.
“Empowerment thrives on sharing knowledge,” she asserted, underscoring the value of collective growth.
Acana Judith, chairperson of the Women Millers of Amolatar, motivated the women to engage in mass production to improve their livelihoods.
“Hard work is key to sustaining our families and achieving happiness in our homes,” she said.
Currently, the project operates within three sub-counties: Acii, Etam, and Nalubwoyo, with plans for expansion. In a gesture of appreciation, the enthusiastic women gifted Mrs. Rhoda Oroma a chicken, symbolising their gratitude for her leadership and support.
