Maruzi County MP-elect Acuda awards top 2025 PLE performers

Peter Obong Acuda has motivated pupils with scholastic materials to promote their academic excellence.

He supported over thirty Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) candidates from Maruzi County, Apac district, and recognised them for outstanding performance.

The top achievers, all of whom passed in First Grade, received mattresses, boxes, and other scholastic materials in an award ceremony organised by their constituency.

The Member of Parliament-elect procured and distributed the prizes, handing them out on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his residence in Oloc Cell, Akokoro Ward. Acuda noted that Maruzi County produced 22 Division One candidates in the 2025 PLE.

Maruzi He told journalists that the central purpose of the awards is to motivate children to value education and strive for better performance.

The awards were specifically for pupils who sat their exams from schools within the Maruzi constituency, comprising 9 female and 21 male top performers.

“I am a teacher by profession. But for a teacher to rise from the classroom to leadership and to the rank of Member of Parliament is not a small journey in life,” Acuda stated. He pledged to leverage his background to transform Maruzi County into a modern constituency.

Speaking on behalf of the Apac District Education Department, Gunyo Francis, who also chairs the local head teachers’ association, applauded the initiative. He promised an even better performance in the 2026 PLE, crediting the MP for boosting morale.

“This gesture boosts our ongoing efforts to improve academic performance across the entire district. Parents must also play their part, as a child’s education requires the commitment of all stakeholders,” Gunyo emphasised.

He added that 1,070 candidates sat for PLE in the Apac district in 2025. Addressing head teachers and parents, he thanked educators for their sacrifice, describing teaching as a divine calling. He appealed to teachers to maintain their dedication for the sake of achieving better results in 2026.

Among the beneficiaries, Miriam Alaro from Akiro Primary School said the award boosted her morale as she transitioned to secondary school. Daniel Amigo from Alunga Primary School thanked the MP for the essential school supplies.

Tonny Ogwang, the Local Council One Chairperson of Oloc Cell, expressed his pride in seeing the candidates walk away with valuable materials.

He concluded by stating that motivating learners is a critical responsibility shared by leaders, teachers, and parents alike.

Amongst the top performing Schools including the following, Ibuje primary school, Apele primary school, Awila primary school, Alenga annexe primary school, Alenga primary school, Abalo Kweri primary school, Aketo primary school And Apwoi primary school among others.
