The Member of Parliament for Kole North, Dr Samuel Opio Acuti, also NRthe M flagbearer for the next yeyear’seneral election h,as congratulated Ugandans, aarticularly his constituents, on reaching the end of 2025 in his annual Christmas and New Year message.
While addressing the media in Lira City on December 24, Dr Opio expressed heartfelt gratitude to the national leadership. “With special thanks to the Fountain of Honour, H.E. Rtd. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, and our Mama, First Lady Janet Museveni, Minister of Education and Sports, I would like to congratulate the people of Kole North and Uganda in general on reaching this Christmas season in good health,” he said.
“I thank you, Mr President and our Marst Lady, for your capable leadership. All praise be to the Almighty God, and I pray that we all finish 2025 successfully and enter into 2026 in good health.”
The legislator also urged all Ugandans, especially parents, to celebrate the festivities with mindfulness. He cautioned that the holiday period requires financial prudence, as school fees will soon be due. “As we enjoy all sorts of sweet meals and drinks, remember to save because very soon children will be demanding school fees,” he advised.
Reflecting on the significance of the season, Dr Opio shared, “Christmas is my favourite time of the year. It is a season when we spend time with friends and family, but it is also a time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas: the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.”
He added that this period offers an opportunity to look back on the past year and forward to the next with hope and optimism.
The MP extended his special affection and commitment to the people of Kole North. “This year, 2025, has been significant. I want to again share my heartfelt gratitude to everyone in Kole North for your support and trust. Representing this constituency continues to be my greatest privilege.”
The MP also called for gratitude towards those who serve during the holidays. “Let us also give thanks to those who will be working throughout Christmas to serve our community. We owe each of you our gratitude for your dedication and sacrifice.”
In concluding his message, MP Dr Opio, who doubles as General Secretary of Lango Parliamentary Group, expressed his appreciation to President Museveni for his relentless efforts to lift Ugandans out of poverty.
He encouraged everyone to actively participate in government development programs such as Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and the 4-acre Model to drive progress and eradicate poverty in their communities.
“May this Christmas fill your hearts with peace and joy, and may the New Year bring health, happiness, and hope for brighter days ahead,” Dr Opio concluded, wishing all Ugandans a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2026.
