“I am the coartem for Kole South constituency” – youth MP Okot

Youth MP for northern Uganda Eng. Boniface Okot has described himself as the definitive solution for the people of Kole South.

He presented a medical metaphor, stating he is “coartem,” a proper cure for malaria, and not merely “panadol,” a painkiller for superficial relief.

The youth MP who is seeking the Kole South parliamentary seat, made this statement on Wednesday, December 16, 2025, while addressing a rally in Aparango village, Omola Dyang parish, Bala sub-county, where he received a massive welcome from supporters ahead of the general elections.

The MP took his campaign message to multiple villages including Apar 14, Omola Dyang Dani, Atira, Acan Pany, Awee Iwot, Okello Kiza, Te Yao, Omatolongo, Ayatnino, and Apongimalo, all within the constituency.

Outlining his vision, Okot cited eight key points in his manifesto for a five-year term. He pledged to follow up on the construction of the new Omola Dyang sub-county headquarters and lobby the Ministry of Education to establish Omola Dyang Seeds Secondary School.

Another major pledge is to lobby for the upgrade of Omola Dyang Health Centre II to a Health Centre III to improve healthcare services.

He also promised to advocate for a new primary school, Dam Atira Annex, to be created from the existing Dam Atira Primary School, and to work on improving power connectivity to boost local businesses.

On water and sanitation, Okot promised to provide sufficient clean water through extended piped water systems and new boreholes, alongside repairing all non-functional ones. “I want my people to drink clean water,” he stated.

Politically, MP Okot urged voters in Kole South to support President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta and all NRM flagbearers across the country, promising that the constituency would emerge from what he termed “poor leadership.”

A notable endorsement came from Martin Kali, a member of Okot’s campaign team and former general secretary in the office of Kole South MP, Peter Ocen Akalo.

Kali openly asked for forgiveness from voters, alleging that over the past ten years, money was stolen from women in the name of providing kitenge (cloth).

He claimed Ocen would collect shs12,000 per person for a kitenge costing shs5,000, pocketing the difference. “I’m now ready to return to NRM,” Kali declared.

Further support was voiced by Nixon Ayo, the NRM chairperson of Akalo town council, who pledged the council’s votes for Boniface Okot due to his “good manifesto.”

Paul Oluge, LC1 chairperson of Aparango village, praised Okot as a trusted leader arriving at the right time to bring development. “For over ten years, Kole South’s voice has not been heard in Parliament. Let voters choose President Yoweri Museveni and Boniface Okot,” he said.

Adding his voice, Ojuka Tabquic, LC3 chairperson of Bala town council, commended Okot for delivering a good pipe water point to the area.

“I describe him as a fish who works for both women and men. Let us vote for only Okot,” he stated.
