Jane Acilo pledges school feeding program for Oyam schools

Addressing a rally in Kuluopuk village, Okwir Trading Centre, Okwir parish, Iceme sub-county, Jane Frances Acilo pledged to introduce a school feeding program once elected.

The program, she said, targets every child to eat nutritious food at least twice a day.

Meanwhile, the Okwir Trading Centre residents urged Acilo to “connect them to the grid.” “Electricity is needed here, and this needs a leader who can ensure that the essential service is brought,” Acilo said.

“…it would be better to first ensure families have the money in their pockets to pay the power bill. This has been my strategy.”

“One big problem in Oyam is poverty,” Acilo said. “We have to have money in our pockets. I have come to give you fishing hooks, not fish, not shs10m.”

She urged locals to refuse shs5000 from some politicians for vote exchange.

“If I give you 1kg of maize seeds and you harvest like 3 sacks, you can share some with your neighbour for planting. What is more important is that I have good news: This coming month (December), go to any of my offices across the district and register to sell your maize grains. A kilogram will be bought at no less than shs1,000.”

In February 2026, the NRM candidate announced she would resume maize seed distribution to reach many households. “This is my promise to you.

“I have offered myself to represent you for the next five years. Kindly vote for me, vote for President Museveni and all the NRM candidates,” Acilo appealed.

There was another concern from the excitedly looking crowds: dysfunctional boreholes. In response, Acilo informed them that her technical team would take it up as soon as possible.

Agnes Akello, a resident of Okwir parish, believes that the school feeding program will keep children in school and improve performance.

According to her, most homes currently struggle to provide breakfast for their children let alone afford to buy school uniforms.

“Her ideas seem reasonable. I have three children: two in primary 3 and 6 and I have always struggled to meet their demands,” Akello, 36, said.

Speaking in Aloni Trading Centre, still in Iceme, Acilo asked for a legislative mandate, saying more would be achieved in five years. She promised to bring health care services closer to the people, continuing from the successful free health camps held mid this year in Loro and Oyam Boma Grounds.

“Acilo is my daughter. She is bright and intelligent,” Commissioner Lameck Omara Apita, Acilo’s father, told residents of Aloni in Iceme on Saturday.

“When she informed us of her decision to contest for the Oyam District Woman MP seat, we blessed her. We have since dedicated her to you. If you want real development, vote for Acilo,” he said.
