Wisdom High School in Kole district was a scene of both spiritual celebration and academic pride on Independence Day as 705 candidates were dedicated to God in a mass presided over by Bishop Joseph Eletu from Soroti City.
Bishop Eletu commended the institution’s rapid growth.
In a moving ceremony, Bishop Eletu of the Overseeing Christians Revival Ministry of Eastern Uganda led the mass. He urged parents to lead prayerful lives for their children to emulate and reminded them of their duty to keep the light of faith burning in their children’s lives, even amidst worldly challenges. The Bishop also called for an end to discrimination, emphasising that everyone is created in God’s image.
The main celebrant encouraged the candidates to draw closer to God to effect positive change in the world. Bishop Eletu described baptism as a divine gift that must be nurtured.
“Let us always allow the power of God to transform us because there is nothing impossible with God if we allow him to lead us,” he stated, expressing confidence that the candidates would excel in the upcoming 2025 UNEB examinations.
Bishop Eletu extended his gratitude to the school administration for its significant development projects. He praised the Managing Director for establishing an institution that provides knowledge, creates job opportunities, and serves the community, affirming, “This is our school and it will be there forever.”
While presenting the school’s achievements, headteacher Bongo Daniel appreciated parents for their trust and revealed a notable increase in student enrollment. He reported that the school has registered 264 candidates for Senior Four and 441 for Senior Six for the 2025 UNEB exams, a significant rise from 149 and 222, respectively, in 2024.
Daniel called for student discipline during the exam period to maintain the school’s record of good results.
The Managing Director, Ambrose Ogwal, announced a key academic milestone: over the last two years, Wisdom High School has sent a total of more than 22 students to university under the district quota system.
He detailed the school’s strong 2024 UACE performance, which included seven candidates with 19 points, 15 with 18 points, 14 with 17 points, and 33 with 16 points.
Ogwal thanked parents, teachers, and community members who donated land for the school’s expansion, stating their goal is to “add value to the education system in Lango Sub-region and bridge the gap with schools in central and Western Uganda.”
The dedication service coincides with the release of the 2025 national examination timetable. According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), there has been a 7.5% increase in registered candidates this year, with a total of 1,416,468 students set to sit for PLE, UCE, and UACE examinations starting in October.
