Gen Muhoozi discusses space security cooperation with a delegation from UAE

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba on September 29 met a high-level delegation from MIRA Aerospace of Abu Dhabi at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss potential cooperation in space security and communications.

In his opening remarks, the CDF welcomed the delegation and stated that the engagement demonstrates a mutual desire to strengthen ties between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates.

The visiting experts from MIRA Aerospace presented proposals for cooperation with the Ugandan government to establish a dedicated aerospace base in the country. This facility is envisioned to serve as a regional hub for aerospace operations in East Africa.

During the meeting, the CDF emphasised that space capabilities are no longer a distant frontier but an essential domain for national security.

He noted that space defence and space-based telecommunications are critical for safeguarding national sovereignty.

To formalise this potential collaboration, the delegation is pursuing a memorandum of understanding with the Ugandan government.

The CDF expressed the UPDF’s eagerness to learn about the advanced solutions MIRA Aerospace offers.

He added that Uganda is keen to explore a strategic partnership founded on shared interests.
