Elections 2026: Alebtong ready for Museveni’s visit on Thursday

Alebtong district is in final preparations to host President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The Resident District Commissioner Geoffrey Okiswa, has confirmed the readiness of the President’s impending visit, which is part of a broader campaign tour across the Lango sub-region.

According to RDC Okiswa, the President is expected to address citizens at the Boma Grounds in Alebtong town council.

During the rally, he will present the government’s record of achievements, outline future plans, and formally seek electoral support as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential flagbearer for the 2026 general elections.

Commissioner Okiswa has urged all residents of Alebtong to turn up in large numbers to listen to the President’s message.

He described the event as a “historic occasion” for the district and a key opportunity for citizens to engage with national leadership.

The visit holds particular significance for Alebtong, a district in the Lango sub-region. The district is historically recognised as one of the places where Uganda’s national motto, “For God and My Country”, was first embraced and promoted.

The confirmation follows an announcement made last week by NRM National Vice Chairperson for the Northern Region and Ajuri County MP, who also doubles as Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua.

They informed stakeholders at a meeting in Lira City that the President would spend over a week campaigning in the Lango.

As part of this campaign itinerary, President Museveni is expected to be in Amolatar District on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, before proceeding to Alebtong and Otuke on Thursday, October 2.

His tour of the sub-region is scheduled to run until October 7, 2025.

In anticipation of the high-profile visit, the Alebtong district security committee has confirmed a substantial security deployment throughout the area to ensure the safety and smooth execution of the event.
