Anyama Ben promises 80% water coverage in Adjumani by 2031

Newcomers and incumbent politicians are promising too much ahead of the general elections in 2026. From lower political offices to Parliament, politicians have designed their agenda or manifestos highlighting what they intend to do if elected.

In Adjumani, the incumbent LC5 chairperson Anyama Ben who lost the NRM primary election, was nominated as an independent candidate.

Even after losing the flag, Anyama’s heart remains yellow. “Many things happened and I want to thank them. There are two things here: people know that one, I am still NRM. I repeat l, am still NRM. Only that I am not a flag bearer. That’s the first thing. I will die in NRM,” he said after the nomination.

Anyama outlined his key manifesto pillars, pledging to prioritize good leadership, agriculture, education, health, peace and unity. These, he said, are the foundation for Adjumani’s socio-economic growth.

“I want to assure the people of Adjumani that in the next 5 years, I want to do the following things. Number one is to provide good and harmonious leadership. Leadership that can unite the people of Adjumani like I have done for the whole of my life.

“Secondly, I intend to promote the NRM ideology. NRM ideology with the four principles that govern NRM, that govern the State, the country and the district.

“I want to make sure the land of Zoka is well protected. Under land management, I will not accept Balalo being here, I will make sure with the RDC and security team that Balalo leaves because it is the order of the President and it must be enforced.”

He added: “Under health, what I intend to do is to ensure that the clean management of health services in Adjumani continues, I will make sure no staff is playing around with the population.

“I want to also increase the maternity ward which is accommodating 100 people now. I will build a maternity ward to accommodate about 150; I want to increase the number of staff recruitment for both education and health.”

“In the area of youths, I want to look for money. The stadium that the previous leadership has failed to finish will be completed so that youth programs, youth activities, and traditional leaders’ can take place there.

“I want to ensure that under community services, traditional leadership and our cultural institutions are empowered. We must make sure the paramount chief is empowered, all the clan chiefs are empowered so that they can address the issues of land, domestic violence in Adjumani district.”

Anyama said under his current leadership, the water coverage for Adjumani now stands at 75% and compared it with the national coverage at 77%.

Looking ahead, he pledges that in the next 5 years the water coverage will reach 80%. How? “By making sure that the shs60b water project from the River Nile is completed.”

The independent candidate says collaborative leadership is key, promising to work closely with technical staff, local communities, and the law enforcement team to ensure effective service delivery.
