Like they always say, “time is a friend to everyone, even liars,” for nearly two decades, the Akena-led UPC faction has vehemently denied any cooperation with the NRM.
And anyone bold enough to speak about it in public? Oh, Lango would descend on them with all the fury of ancestral clans, accusing them of being anti-Obote or enemies of the sacred UPC shrine.
But alas, the wind has blown… and just like that, the anus of the chicken is exposed. The nefarious motives have now come to light—exonerating brave souls like Hon. Isha Otto Amiza and yours truly, who dared to speak when silence is expected.
As the wise ones say, “Whatever is done in the dark will eventually crawl into the light, usually in embarrassing fashion.”
Whenever someone questioned the Akena faction’s flirtation with NRM and President Museveni, they’d demand “proof” as though we all hadn’t seen them winking across political tables.
But thank God for their own gluttonous political aggression—it drove them to shove Dr. Aceng’s political neck into the guillotine, only for it to boomerang straight back at them!
And the plot thickened when Hon. Amongi decided to raid the Lira City Women MP seat. Suddenly, the political beans started spilling faster than a boda-boda at a pothole. The trouble in the Akena-UPC household is now undeniable.
Internal divisions are erupting like forgotten debts, with hardcore UPC members now whispering secrets—and some even defecting (unofficially, of course) to Dr. Aceng’s camp.
Then came the infamous State House visit: a delegation from Lango, featuring both the Amongi and Aceng camps, arrived only for the cat to leap right out of the bag.
The head of the UPC delegation confessed—on record—that UPC and NRM have been in a secret “political marriage” since 2014. Yes, a secret marriage. No ceremony. No guest list. Not even a dowry!
Some aggrieved UPC members are now lamenting: “We weren’t even invited to the wedding, let alone asked to be flower girls!” and yet, they still cling to UPC like a long-suffering ex who keeps the wedding photo under their pillow.
Right now, in Lango, we are experiencing a hybrid political system that would confuse even the brightest political scientists. We have NRM-UPC members, UPC-NRM members, and FDC-NRM hybrids. It’s a political buffet and everyone is eating everything!
Thanks (or no thanks) to the innovation of the Akena/Amongi partnership, Lango has never looked more politically… confused. Growing up, I never imagined I’d see a Lango this scrambled.
Whether this confusion is for better or worse, I honestly can’t say just yet.
But here’s what I do know: history is a stern teacher. Political marriages without clear terms always end in premium tears. Just ask the ghosts of the UPC-Kabaka Yekka alliance of 1961.
That political honeymoon lasted barely three years before ending in disaster. Akena, brace yourself—your father’s political rain is coming for you, with interest.
To my beloved Lango kin: you have endured enough manipulation in broad daylight. Can we now wake up, dust off the confusion, and return to our proud, politically sharp roots?
Let’s reclaim our rightful place in Uganda’s national political arena—before we start identifying as NUP-FDC-NRM-UPC independents!
