MP Akora repairs five boreholes in Apac municipality in one week

Boreholes

Residents of Apac Municipality are celebrating what they call a “miracle” after their potential Member of Parliament, Maxwell Akora, intervened to repair five critical boreholes in one week.

Residents say the intervention will put an end to months of water scarcity, which has exposed them to waterborne diseases.

Locals have compared Akora’s intervention to Jesus Christ’s Biblical miracle of feeding 5,000 people with one loaf of bread, citing the MP’s quick action in providing clean water to thousands.

“We had almost lost hope until Hon. Akora came like the Good Samaritan,” said Bruno Okello, LC1 chairperson of Awiri Cell, Adok Ward. “Our 1962-vintage borehole serves 800 households – it was a health timebomb.”

Patrick Okot, a borehole caretaker, confirmed that “people were fighting daily over water.” “Now peace has returned thanks to this intervention.”

Bernard Obasanjo, an Apac municipal councilor who is currently on Akora’s mobilisation team, emphasized that “water is life.”

“We’re now engaging National Water and Sewerage Corporation for permanent solutions beyond boreholes.”

Florence Onono, chairperson borehole maintenance, said: “We need more water points for our growing population.”

LC1 chairperson Okello also stated that “one borehole per 800 households is unsustainable in 2025.”

“My office will establish a rapid response system for water emergencies. Report any breakdowns immediately – we’ll partner with NWSC for sustainable solutions.”

“Clean water shouldn’t be a miracle – it’s a basic right. This is just the beginning,” Maruzi County MP, Maxwell Akora, said.
