Residents of Nakapelimou sub-county in Kotido district were overjoyed to receive food aid from Musa Lule, who lives in London, United Kingdom.
Lule, through his Uganda-based Munisa Foundation, distributed a full truck of assorted food items to over 4,000 residents on Monday, April 1, 2025, with a priority given to the elderly and women.
Each beneficiary walked home with two kilograms of maize flour, two kilograms of rice, and a bar of soap at an event held in Nakapelimoru sub-county.
Nachuu Anna Mary, a beneficiary, said this will help her supplement the diet for her family, appreciating Musa for coming up with an idea of extending charity to the people of Karamoja.
She did, however, request that Musa increase the quantity of the relief food item so that it could sustain them for a longer period of time, as well as an increase in seeds so that they could plant crops during planting season and become self-sufficient.
Sheik Said, Munisa Foundation’s country coordinator, stated that this is the second time the organization has visited Karamoja for charity, and that they are committed to assisting Karamoja’s vulnerable people.
Calvine Lokut Ismael, Munisa Foundation’s Karamoja coordinator, stated that this initiative will go a long way in helping the people and urged that this charitable activity continue.
He reiterated that the people of Karamoja are desperate for seeds such as maize, sorghum, beans and green gram to help them farm and be able to feed themselves.
In a phone interview, Lule stated that this initiative is intended to assist the Karamoja people, and that he will continue to do so in collaboration with his two London colleagues.
He added that having natives with whom he can collaborate in Karamoja has motivated him to continue assisting the people, as he has always struggled to channel help to Karamoja.
