Soroti | On Wednesday May 1 in the morning, security personnel in Soroti City recovered a bomb near the Landmark Hotel on Market Street.
The suspect, whose identity is unknown, planted the bomb. He was later apprehended for further questioning.
Damali Nachuha, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, confirmed the incident and stated that the situation has returned to normal.
The suspect is being held at Soroti Central Police Station. The bomb was safely denoted, rendering the area secure.
The news relieved Soroti residents, particularly market vendors who were concerned that terrorists were planning an attack on Labour Day.
By press time, efforts were underway to collect additional information on the suspect and any potential accomplices.
City authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or individuals as soon as possible.
The investigation was ongoing, and security officials promised more updates as they became available.
