President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni paid visits to PDM beneficiaries in Kole and Lira on Tuesday and praised them for perseverance and dedication in making good use of the funds.
He described the PDM as a foundational initiative and a core from which all individuals should benefit.
“I am committed to increasing the annual allocation to shs 100 million,” he stated, in Kole.
Rose Akoi, 50, lives in Akaidebe cell, Eastern Ward A, Kole Town Council, and was visited on the first day of President Museveni’s tour of the Lango sub-region.
As part of his ongoing assessment of PDM performance and wealth creation, the President spoke with Akoi, who recounted her success story, which began with the shs1 million in PDM funding received in 2023.
The beneficiary has received one cow, three pigs, and goats.
She informed the President that she was able to purchase four pigs and one goat with the initial shs 1million received through PDM.
After selling these, she made shs 2.9 million while also managing her household of seven children with her husband, Richard Okori.

One major issue confronts them: water supply.
“This has significantly transformed my life; the improvement in household nutrition has empowered me to better support my family,” she remarked.
She acknowledged the government’s support for the elderly, which she believes has improved her quality of life, and she praised the region’s current peace and security, which has aided her efforts.
Dr Opio Samuel Acuti, Member of Parliament for Kole North, emphasized the importance of transitioning the Lango community from subsistence agriculture to a more robust economy, urging all farmers to focus on cultivating crops that will lift them out of poverty.

The President granted her shs15 million to improve her project and acquire land, boosting her household productivity and cultivating pasture for dairy farming. He also committed to building a suitable home for her.
Similarly, on the first day in Aliring Cell, Banya Ward, Amac Town Council, Museveni gave Vicky Apio shs15 million to help her advance her agricultural endeavors. He also promised to drill a new borehole in the community.
Meanwhile, Bishop Alfred Olwa of the Lango Diocese thanked President Museveni for his genuine concern for the community, noting, “I am also a beneficiary of the PDM, where I have cultivated one hectare of cocoa.”
