MP Auma’s political agent accused of “double dealing” with Ongina

MP Auma

Lira |A section of NRM party leaders from Amac town council who support Lira district’s female MP have denied defecting to the UPC party.

They have also denied reports that they support Florence Ongina Adupa, a former candidate for the 2021 elections. Adupa failed to defeat MP Aims in that election.

On September 15, 2024, Patrick Omara, one of MP Auma’s agents, reportedly met with several of Auma’s agents at HighWay Garden in Amac town council.

Omara is said to have discussed Auma’s involvement in the community during that meeting, particularly initiatives introduced by Florence Ongina Adupa to improve the lives of locals.

When Adupa arrived at the same location, the shift in loyalty would become apparent. Omara introduced Adupa rather than MP Auma’s top aide, who was already present.

Denis Ekwang, NRM chairperson for Akaidebe Cell in Ayac Ward, confirmed that the community is actively involved in local governance. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing Amac-related issues, particularly those related to Florence Ongina Adupa’s efforts.

Ekwang also emphasized the importance of collaborating with local leaders, such as MP Linda Auma, to ensure that the community’s needs are addressed.

He continued to advocate for community participation, highlighting the importance of local representation in addressing residents’ concerns.

Meanwhile, Hellen Agoro of Akaidebe Cell reaffirmed the community’s support for Florence Ongina Adupa, saying her leadership has been instrumental in resolving local issues. Agoro stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration with local representatives.

During a meeting with Auma’s coordinators, Jacob Ocen, MP Auma’s political assistant, cautioned and warned other leaders against using her boss’ name for meetings, insisting that such practices end immediately.

Ocen praised MP Auma’s leadership and vision, assuring the audience that when Auma first entered Parliament, she was appointed spokesperson for all female Ugandan MPs and also serves as spokesperson for the Lango Parliamentary Group.

Ocen informed the meeting that Auma also chairs the Agriculture Committee in Uganda’s parliament.

Omara on the accusations…

Omara, who has been accused of holding meetings without informing MP Auma with the intention of defecting to the UPC, said he had nothing to say in response to the accusations.

He stated that the involvement of local leaders, including MP Auma, is critical for the community’s ongoing development and welfare, as they strive to meet the needs and aspirations of its residents.
