MP Dubai tells govt not to send funds to Amolatar

Government

Gulu | Tindiziraria Silver, assistant commissioner in the Ministry of Local Government, and senior inspector at the same Ministry, Magambo Willy, have advised Kyoga North MP James Olobo Dubai to assist the district in lobbying for more funding for road works rather than reporting the problem to them.

These funds would be used to repair flood-damaged roads.

On Thursday, ministry officials and district leaders inspected roads and projects that had initially been reported to the ministry as “done shoddily.”

In a letter to the ministry, MP Dubai requested that no money be sent to the district if the funds for fiscal years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 are not accounted for.

The letter also stated that the road fund for two fiscal years was divided among the CAO, LC5, RDC, and acting district engineer.

During the monitoring at Naveyo Primary School, a pit latrine that had been reported to have collapsed was discovered to be in good working condition.

Other schools visited included Abaler SAD and Olyaka, all of which had no issues, according to the ministry.

The team also made visits to Nakatiti HC3, Biko HC3, and Acill HC3.

The roads from Abako to Acii, Odyak to Nakatiti, and Naveyo to Acii were also monitored.

Meanwhile, during roadworks and project monitoring, Adupa Felix Ongwech, President of the Transformers Cadres Association, was attacked and beaten by unknown people.

Adupa has recently mobilised locals to demonstrate against district leaders, accusing CAO Samuel Mbiiwa of corruption.
