Lira | Otucu Bonny, the Assistant Resident City Commissioner (ARCC) of Lira, has urged residents to value their health as much as their wealth.
Commissioner Otucu made the statement on Saturday, June 22, while officiating at the end of a one-day health training event organised by Lango Revoobit at Hotel Good News in Lira City.
Lango Revoobit organised a one-day health training on some of their products, including mira cell. The training drew participants from all walks of life, including young people, local leaders, and religious leaders.
The ARCC advised the participants to live a healthy lifestyle so that they can live longer and enjoy the benefits of the government’s many developmental programmes.
He thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for developing, strengthening, and allocating more resources to the health sector because our health is our top priority.
Otucu stated that it is our responsibility to take good care of our health because no one will do it for us. “Most of the diseases that people are getting these days are a result of our lifestyle,” he said, recalling that diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, ulcers, and so on were not as common in the past.
He insisted that we try to take good care of our health and visit hospitals for regular check-ups. “I always see many people going to the hospitals only when they are sick yet they are supposed to go for regular check ups,” Otucu said.
He noted that Lira City has many health facilities, some of which are being upgraded and new ones being built.
