Amolatar | When tndNews visited Muntu Seed Secondary School on June 6, 2024, head teacher Ogangi Geoffrey stated that 57 students had been suspended for leading term one’s devastating strike.

Ogangi said the decision was a reflection of their lack of discipline, and that the school administration could not keep them.

Muntu suspended 25 senior four students, 14 senior three students, 18 in senior two, and one in senior one.

The head teacher revealed that the strike occurred just as they were about to close for the first term, causing property damage worth shs22 million.

After meeting with the students’ parents, they blamed the school for the strike. According to Ogangi, some parents felt that the students ought to have set the school on fire.

“We were shocked by the parents who turned against the school when they were called to a meeting to discuss their children’s indiscipline.”

Following their investigation, it was discovered that the students intended to kill two teachers. “We could not hold the students to continue with Muntu seed secondary school.”

Ogangi stated that term two began with 600 students.

He confirmed that the school has obtained another source of water, in addition to the previous one, and urged parents who are still keeping their children at home to return them, particularly senior three and four.

He told tndNews that senior three and four students have exams coming up next week.

On a health note, the school has recorded the red eye disease, which is being managed by the school nurse under the supervision of Nakatiti Health Centre III, according to Ogangi.
