Kampala | President Museveni Yoweri, also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, has appointed Major General Richard Otto as the new commander of the Mountain Division.
Otto will also command Operation Shujaa.
He succeeds Maj General Dick Olum. He will head the South Sudan Stabilisation Mechanism, where Maj Gen Otto has represented Uganda.
“We congratulate the two Generals on their new assignments and wish them good luck,” says Col Deo Akiiki, Deputy Director of Defence Public Information.
Maj Gen Olum has led men in green against ADF terrorists in the west of the country and within the DRC.
During his command, key members and commanders of the terrorist group were apprehended and killed, while dozens of innocent captives were rescued.
