Ayoo Otyek: My rise to fame

Lira | Last week, the Office of the President, led by the Minister for Presidency, appointed dozens to assist RDCs and their Deputies, RCCs and their Deputies across the country.

The new recruits, Assistant RCCs and RDCs, will be in charge of mobilisation, patriotism, and combating corruption, among other things.

Proscovia Ayoo Otyek, a former Lira district councillor, is among the beneficiaries.

Otyek will work as the Lira district’s assistant RDC.

Some of her friends praised the appointing authority for “identifying a good cadre who has been a unifying factor.”

Ayoo told the press in Lira City on Sunday: “I am a born of Ngetta Ginnery cell, Anyangapuc ward, Lira City East Division.”

Another thing I would like the public to know is that I began my political career at a young age as a female youth councillor in Lira District in 2011.

“In 2015, I was voted as a general secretary of NRM women’s league, Lira district. In 2016, I also contested as woman MP Lira district and conceded defeat.”

In 2018, she served as vice chairperson of the Lira district Women’s Council and was also appointed acting chairperson of the Lira City Women’s Council for two years.

“I started my lower learning education at St Paul Primary School in Ngetta, I went to Lira Town College for O’level and St John’s SS Nandere for A’level.

“l have a degree in BBA/Accounting and a Diploma in Business Studies.

As a councillor, she stated that ACODE rated her as the best performing councillor in 2012, 2013, and 2014. “That is why I became popular and recognised by some State officials as a good cadre.”

Isaac Opio Opeo (Amuru), Ocen Patrick Ebong (Oyam), Bonny Otucu (Lira City), Pule Bonny (Amolatar), Obada Ceaser (Kwania), Okello Alele Bonny (Lira City), and Okot Jonal (Apac) are among the Lango daughters and sons who have also been appointed.
