Lira | The territorial Police in Lira City West Division have opened up a death enquiry file (DEF) on the sudden death of Okello Francis Bonny, 30.

Okello has been a resident of Wigweng cell, Barogole ward, Lira City West Division.

He mysteriously died on February 12 2024 at unknown hours, SP Jimmy Okema, PRO North Kyoga says.

The PRO adds that Okello’s death was reported to the Police by Ojok Patrick, 42, an LC1 chairperson of Wigweng cell, Barogole Ward in Lira City West Division.

It is alleged that on February 11, 2024, at around 8:30 pm, the deceased was at his home while drunk.

On February 12, 2024, at around 3:00 am, the neighbours claimed the deceased was heard making noise, SP Okema revealed.

However, on checking him at around 4 am, he was dead.

“A case file of DEF 05/2023 was opened. Crime scene visited by a team of Police officers led by D/OC CID and other officers and SOCO,” according to Okema.

The body was conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary for postmortem.

“We appeal to anyone who has information that can support the investigation to share with the Police so that we know what exactly happened, however, postmortem will determine the cause of his death.”
