The housing units are at the 403 Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Matany sub-county, Napak district.

The commissioned units whose construction commenced on May 25, 2022, are part of the thirty thousand housing units aimed at addressing the accommodation and welfare of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Maj Moses Amuya, the acting PIO, 3 Division says.

Meanwhile, Maj Gen Takirwa said Wednesday that the construction of the housing units is in line with the vision of the Commander-in-Chief to see that every security personnel in UPDF, Police, and Prisons lives decently.

“We are now shifting from traditional ways of living to modern ones,” he added.

He argued soldiers to maintain and preserve the houses and be mindful of their hygiene and sanitation.

Maj Gen Takirwa also advised soldiers on financial discipline and plans for retirement so that they reserve money to start up income-generating activities.

He acknowledged the Engineers Construction Regiment of the 3 Division for the tremendous work and argued for them to maintain the spirit and the professional standards of their work.

Present at the function, according to Maj Amuye, were Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Francis Chemusto, Col Richard Butungi, Lt Col Morris Twongyeirwe, and Maj Kizito Mulwana, among others.
