Dokolo, June 21, 2023: The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has lifted an interdiction against the former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Dokolo, Mbooge Isa.

In its September 7, 2022, letter to the Permanent Secretary (PS), Ministry of Local Government, Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe directed the line ministry to interdict Mbooge.

Mbooge was interdicted together with two other district officials, Otim Moses and Ekuka Daniel.

Almost 10 months later, the IG, in a letter to the PS of the Ministry of local government dated June 20, 2023, says, according to their investigations, UGX3, 430,238 that was erroneously paid as salary to the late Ajok Jackline was recovered from the death gratuity that was paid to her estate on September 7, 2022.

UGX13,635,084 that was erroneously paid out in salaries to Mr Ochen Bosco, Mr Etuu Albert, Mr Ogwang Emmanuel and Mr Odwongo Dennis is recoverable from the death gratuity payable to their estates, once their next of kin secure letters of administration.

Anne Muhairwe adds, “The payments were made during the Covid pandemic and the circumstances prevailing at the time rendered it difficult for Mr Mboogo to obtain information about the demise of the said officers.”

“The IG found his explanation plausible.

“In the circumstances, and given that a mechanism has been put in place to recover the money that was erroneously paid, our directive for his interdiction is hereby lifted with immediate effect,” Muhairwe tells the PS of Local Government.

After Mbooge’s interdiction in 2022, Alex Felix Majeme was posted to replace him as CAO.
