Ajiba chapel in Dokolo bans parishioners who wear heavy jackets to church

Dokolo—24, November 2021: Uganda has recorded four terror activities in the months of October and November 2021. Over 10 people, including three terrorists have died, and few dozens wounded.

Security forces have heightened their alertness and Ugandans are now urged to stay alert and report suspicious objects within their locale.

Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson CP Fred Enaga said last month the recent terror acts are “act of domestic terror”.

Last month, few hours after the Komaboga blast, Reuters reported that the Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility.

Museveni has often called those killing Ugandans “pigs”, further threatening grave actions against them.

Gen. Museveni who took power in 1986 through a half decade of guerilla war, said Uganda (UDPF) is readier than before to handle any threats.

In Dokolo district, the Catholic Church is enforcing few safety measures aimed at combating terrorism.

Oscar Susan Obongi of Ajiba Catholic Chapel in Adeknino sub-county said as Church leaders “we have stopped our congregations from carrying bags and wearing heavy jackets to Church.”

She added: “Always be vigilant and know the people around you and be your own guard by avoiding over crowded place since a lot is happening in our country.”

The District Police Commander (DPC) Dokolo Busheja Hannington Kanimi said much as the country is under terrorism attacks, Dokolo is not exceptional to other parts of the country.

“People should be alert and vigilant to report anything or any person who is acting strange. Report to the relevant authorities,” DPC added.

“…. use the relevant authorities and the local leaders. If we do all these as a team, we will end criminality in our country as a whole.”

Early this month, Lango clergy appealed to security to help them sensitize the population about explosives. Their request came after the Komaboga blast in which one girl died, and property worth millions destroyed.
