UPC appoints committee to investigate its lands under govt control

Lira – 14, October 2021: Uganda People Congress (UPC) party has appointed a three man committee to probe “UPC lands being contested by some individuals and government institutions”.

Fred Ebil Ebil is the secretary general of the party. He tells TND News that the contested lands includes that of Apac Youth Center in Apac Municipality, a plot of land located in Aduku road stage in Lira City and one in Dokolo district along Amwoma road.

According to Ebil, the three man committee appointed to handle the investigations into the party land are Charles Okino from Lira City West Division, Opur Di-Apac and a Lira base renowned Lawyer, Innocent Omara.

The committee are now tasked to expedite their work and come out with their findings within six months.

Ebil Ebil also adds that the committee’s findings will be submitted to UPC Headquarters in Kampala.

The UPC secretary general reveals party’s interest to reclaim all their lands to put up their offices.

The Apac District LCV chairperson Odongo Asante, told TND News that he is yet to go and check with the District Land Board the documents of the contested Apac Youth Center.

Odongo Asante explains that UPC may have to put on table the authentic documents that shows the legitimacy of a true owner of the land in contest.
