Exclusive: President Akena’s Eid Al Adha’s message to muslims

Kampala, 19 July 2021: The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) party president has conveyed his message of love and hope to all the Muslim brothers and sisters in the country.

Jimmy James Akena, also the MP, Lira City East Division, had this to convey:

“Eid Al Adha is Eid of sacrifice and commitment to Allah’s orders. This time it’s coming at a very difficult time when the country is under lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic!”

He added: “As we recognize this Eid, may Allah intervene in this situation and give you strength to face and overcome the challenges of life. May He accept your sacrifices, bless you with good health, happiness and prosperity.”

“Share whatever you can with your loved ones, friends, and neighbours. For you shall be rewarded abundantly!”

He asked them to “observe SOPs and stay safe”.

“Eid Al Adha Mubarak!” His message ends.

Eid al-Adha, Arabic for Festival of the Sacrifice, is the latter of the two official holidays celebrated within Islam. It honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God’s command.

Government has declared Tuesday 20, July a public holiday to allow Muslim brothers and sisters to celebrate and give thanks to Allah.
