Gen. (President) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is the Commander In Chief of the armed forces since 1986.
Mbuya, Kampala – 16, June 2021: President Yoweri Kaguta T. Museveni has promoted four senior Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) soldiers to another military ranks.
Gen. Museveni is also the Commander In Chief of the armed forces since 1986.
According to Brig. Gen. Flavia Bwekwaso who is the defense spokesperson, the president made the changes on 16, June 2021.
Those promoted are: Brig. Gen. Dennis Asiimwe to Maj. Gen., Col. John Nsubuga Wasswa to Brig. Gen., Col. Godfrey Sambura Kimbowa to Brig. Gen.
Others are: Col. Edson Muhanguzi to Brig. Gen., and Col. Frank Kyakonye who also gets promoted to Brig. Gen.
Last week, sources say UPDF Commissions Board presented over 1,000 names of officers to Commander In Chief Gen. Museveni for promotion to different military ranks.
In mid April, 2021, Gen. Museveni promoted over 40 senior UPDF soldiers. Seven Brigadiers were prompted to Major Generals, and 37 to Brigadiers from Colonels.
