Lira – 26, May 2021: Dan Okello has passed on. He passed on from Case Hospital in Kampala last night. The deceased contested for Dokolo South MP seat in the last election, and lost.
He worked with different Civil Society Groups in Lango and Uganda in general. He served as the Executive Director, Lira NGO Forum.
Billie Otto, a broadcast journalist who’s also the Aleka LC5 Councillor to Oyam district council pays his tribute, recalling past engagement with the deceased.
“I supervised him at Lira NGO Forum while he was Executive Director and I was a BOD Executive. Later we sat at the same table as Board Executives.”
Mr Otto says he was “an astute manager and cheerful friend”, who would employ “witty and humorous expressions in advancing his intentions”.
“I miss this already,” he wrote on social media, praying “May God grant his soul eternal rest and help his family.”
“We have lost a great son, hardworking, committed and dedicated. He was a true leader, manager but God invited him at a time he found important. RIP Dan,” Milton Emmy Akwam, CEO, TND News.
