Lukwago’s aide, Nyanjura clarifies on Kampala Lord Mayor’s health

Kampala—25 November 2020: The Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is not suffering from Covid-19 as was earlier presumed—by some people.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, some social media postings claimed that Mr Erias Lukwago was “rushed” to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi due to Covid-19. Some posted he was suffering from “allergies”.

However, his office at KCCA has clarified in a statement issued on Wednesday 25, November 2020.

“The Lord Mayor was diagnosed with acute anaphylaxis which became persistent on treatment. While he is not in a critical condition, doctors found it advisable to conduct further examinations and management,” Nyanjura Doreen, Deputy Lord Mayor, said in her statement.

“Following advice, the Lord Mayor departed yesterday for Nairobi where he arrived safely and has since commenced the necessary medical procedures,” she added.

Her statement further reads: “The Office of the Lord Mayor appreciates the overwhelming concerns and sympathises.”

“We hope for his quick recovery and return to Kampala.”
