On Wednesday, SEFA Uganda supported Lira District Task Force in the quest to fight COVID-19 pandemic in the district.
The donations, consisting of fuel worth Uganda shilling 410,000 [100 litre] is to facilitate referrals of suspects. They also donated 20 bags of maize flour.
The above support was handed over on Wednesday to the RDC Lira, Mr. Milton Odongo and recorded by Bua Tonny, respectively.
In his message to TND News, Mr Daniel Abok, the organisation’s Executive Director said his organisation “will stand together with the Ministry of Health and Ugandan Government in responding to COVID-19.”
Mr Abok suggested that the government should now try to gather resources from many government sectors, and bring it to “a single pool”. “First and foremost, the money or budget allocated to all Ministries and to the Legislature [Parliament] for international flights and meetings, should be realigned or reallocated to fight COVID-19,” he advises.
SEFA Uganda is a new humanitarian national NGO operating in Northern Uganda.
Frank Oyugi, TND News’ senior reporter for Lango sub-region also reported that the Pakistani Community in Lira town gave 500kg of posho, 500kg of beans, and 20 boxes of cooking oil.
The Jerusalem School of Nursing and Midwifery donated 3,000 litres of fuel while the Uganda Christian Institute for Professional Development (UCIPD)’s School of Nursing and Midwifery donated 100 litres of fuel.
