After arrest and detention, the suspect escaped from custody and according to DPC Tubanone, he said the suspect who is suspected to be within Lira town, is being hunted by law enforcement.

David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga regional police spokesman confirmed the incident and said the suspect whom he declined to unveil his particulars, escaped from a Police post in Ojwina division under unclear circumstance.

“The suspect’s escape from custody is unacceptable and it is criminal; we shall charge him for escaping from custody and the officer on duty must be answerable,” Mudong said on phone.

“We want to query OC station of the police outpost on how a suspect escaped, but we condemned the action of crime the suspect is alleged to have committed,” Odong added

He said should the investigation find that the defiler escaped due to negligence of the officer on duty, such officer will also be charged.
