Rt. Honorable Boris Johnson who’s the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has been petitioned on the current status of a Ugandan Member of Parliament for Mukono Municipality, Betty Nambooze.
In a letter dated 29 June this year, Dr. Paul Williams, MP for Stockton South, House of Commons in the United Kingdom says he has been briefed by one Helen Epstein of Bard College, New York who told him some detail of the torture of Betty Nambooze MP who has recently been under armed guard in Kiruddu hospital, Kampala.

“As someone who has lived in Uganda for more than four years before becoming a Member of Parliament I have witnessed first-hand many of the political difficulties in the country and I have been critical of President Yoweri Museveni.

Nambooze was arrested on June 13 following her statement before the killing of Arua Municipality MP, Ibrahim Abiriga.

After weeks in Police custody and Kiruddu hospital, she was released on Police bond on Wednesday. She’s to report back on July, 29 this year.
The Mukono Municipality MP is charged with incitement to commit an offence and offensive communication under case file No. CID HQTRS E/191/2018.
