The Manafwa district Councilors gave their Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) hard time, pressing him with hard questions chaotically during budget approval of Shs.20 billion for next financial year, 2018-2019.
This took place on Thursday at Manafwa district headquarters.
Otai Charles, the CAO was tasked to present list of genuine workforce in all departments in the district before budget approval.
All came about after the Councilors alleged that they have discovered that many schools in the district have ghost teachers.
They also told the August House that some of the schools in the district are also ghost.
Mumia Fred, Munga Sam, Kabenga Paul, and Simwede Jimmy, all Councilors raised concerns of increasing ghost workers in the district, ghost schools and maladministration in Education department.
The trio said they got surprised to learn of the existing ghost schools which have been receiving grants from central government and district support.
They further stressed that genuine workers have for months been missing salaries due to ghost workers.
The Councilors further revealed that there are over 200 ghost workers in the district of Manafwa and evidences are in the hands of the culprits who they say are to face the Law.
Questioned without being given chance to respond immediately, Charles Otai asked the Councilors to closely cooperate with him in order to arrest the ghost workers since they are all known.
Kyeune Ssenyonjo, the Manafwa Residents District Commissioner vowed to seriously and end massive corruption and misuse of government funds in the district.
