Plans underway to repatriate Nekyon’s daughter for burial

The body of Sarah Apio, one of the twin daughters of fallen Uganda’s first post independence Broadcasting Minister Akbar Adoko Nekyon who died two days after her father is scheduled to land in Uganda next week on Wednesday.

Apio died on Sunday, 7 May from Kingston Hospital, Surrey, United Kingdom.

Her father, Akbar Adoko Nekyon had passed on Friday from a ‘mysterious’ location in Kampala.

Aguma Richard, one of the sons in Law in Oyima clan revealed that she was diagnosed late with Intestinal Cancer, an ailment that killed her.

Speaking to TND News on Saturday morning, Roy Odur, a close family member said the body arrives on Wednesday.

He added: “She will be laid to rest on Friday.”

James Alele, another family member living in United Kingdom said: “It has been a long period of anxiety but thanks for your prayers and support; may God rest her soul in peace.”

Just like Nekyon, Apio will be buried in Apoki village, Chegere Sub-county in Apac district.
